Green, Responsibility and Sustainability
Watch Barry Dixon, one of the top interior
designers of the nation, discuss his contribution to
what will be the first "Green House" to be constructed
in Mclean Virginia.
The Green House, the first
carbon-neutral home to be built on the east coast, will
be constructed in Mclean, Virginia. When completed in
the spring of 2009, the Green House will use eighty
percent less energy than a conventional home and leave a
carbon neutral footprint. CharityWorks, in partnership
with CO2freeLiving, will arrange tours of the Green
House with proceeds going to local charity.
CharityWorks is a volunteer-driven organization created
in 1999 to help break the cycle of poverty in DC by
strengthening local education programs and enabling
families to overcome critical health issues. Deanna
Belli, and Vicky Sabo, the CharityWorks Green House
Co-Chairs, will arrange a lecture series in sustainable
building practices and hold a forum to share in
techniques such as Geo Thermal Power.
